Singer and actress, Janelle Monae is on the July cover of Allure magazine, the ‘Freedom Issue’, in a tribute to her hitherto unknown side, activism. The petite artist talks to the magazine about visibility in her trade, choosing freedom over fear and about her music, her third studio album specifically, ‘Dirty Computer’ , which sheds light on her current state of mind while America battles against the onslaught of political issues. Janelle Monae also opens up about her innermost thoughts on existing in a free country as a queer black woman, goes into detail about the reasoning behind recording ‘Dirty Computer’ and several other issues. She expresses that the album was a creative way of moving past Donald Trump being elected as the 43rd president of the United States.
