On January 16, former Delta State governor, James Onanefe Ibori threw a classy party in celebration of Senami Sosu, his last wife’s 40th birthday party.
The party which took place at the swanky Ikoyi palatial home of Ibori, had quite a number of his friends, family and close associates in attendance, particularly his colleague ex governors.
Some of those in attendance were Aliko Dangote; Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki; a former Edo State governor, Lucky Igbinedion; Otunba Niyi Adebayo; Tony Elumelu, Bukola Saraki; Femi Otedola, Segun Oniru; Segun Awolowo; Nduka Obaigbena and a host of others.
Ibori thought it expedient to roll out the drums to celebrate Senami for her unflinching support to him over the years.
A graduate of the University of Lagos, Senami Sosu’s chance meeting years ago with Ibori, luckily changed her life.
They began a relationship while she was still a student of the University of Lagos and he was still married to his first wife and the then first lady of Delta State, Theresa Ibori.
Infact, Ibori being a ladies man had his hands full with the numerous women, he was involved, one of the many reasons his wife Theresa ended their marriage and was conspicuously absent all through his second term as governor.
Regardless of the luxuries she has been privileged to enjoy on account of her relationship with the 62 year old, her loyalty earned her a pride of place in Ibori’s life.
At the height of Ibori‘s dilemma with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over fraud related issues and subsequently becoming a fugitive, Sosu remained like a rock of Gibraltar by Ibori’s side.
In fact, Senami was with Ibori in Dubai when he got arrested by London police. All through his extradition, his trial, eventually being hauled behind bars, Senami stood by Ibori.
He in turn ensured that she was well taken care of while still behind bars
When he got released, after serving four out of his 13 year sentence, Senami was by his side on his first night out of jail. And he has remained stuck with her since then.
Besides Senami, Ibori is married to another lady named Geraldine Uju Ononiba who bore him his only son. He married her during his second tenure as governor. He however got her relocated to America when his fraud ordeal began.
