Popular interior decorator, Maureen Nkiruka Okoye-Eze and boss of the Throne of Grace interiors, one of the most sought after interior decor shop situated on Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, Victoria Island in Lagos, is dead.

Monalisa Whyte as she is fondly called, died of an undisclosed ailment at the age of 38. Her death was reportedly painful and slow.

A widow and a single mother of two young girls at the time of her death, she has been described by close friends as a dogged entrepreneur who did well for herself in her short time on earth.

In her lifetime, Monalisa wasn’t without her own share of controversy.

In 2018, she was arraigned by the men of Force Criminal intelligence and Investigation department, FCIID, on a 10 count charge bordering on a N122m naira fraud, stealing and issuance of dud cheques, offenses which are punishable under section 321(b) of the criminal law guiding Lagos State.

Her victim was a certain Emmanuel Olabode who accused her of obtaining the said sum under false pretense of supplying interior furniture. Monalisa is survived by her mother, brothers and two daughters.

Meanwhile, her family of late popular interior decorator have released a programme of events for her funeral. A service of songs has been scheduled to hold at the St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1004, Victoria Island on Friday September 24 at 5pm. Her funeral mass will hold the following day on Saturday September 25 at 9.30am, same venue. Her remains will be interred shortly after the funeral mass at Ebony Vaults and Gardens, Ikoyi, Lagos at 11am. All programs are expected to adhere strictly to Covid19 protocols.
