It looks like British actor, Idris Elba may have to swallow his words on marriage. The over six foot actor who told Essence magazine about six months ago that he may likely not give marriage another shot after his second marriage ended, is now engaged to his beauty queen girlfriend, Sabrina Dhowre. The 45 year old proposed to the 29 year old former 2014 Miss Vancouveron stage ahead of a screening of his latest film, Yardie, at Rio cinema.
The proposal is coming about six months after they both made their red carpet debut as a couple in September, 2017. They have both been dating for seven months and they both met when he was filming ‘The Mountain Between Us’ alongside ‘Titanic’s’ Kate Winslet in Canada when he found himself smitten with beauty queen Sabrina.
The actor had said in the Essence interview in July 2017; ‘Am I ever gonna get remarried? I don’t think so. Yeah, I don’t think so. Marriage is an institution of sorts. And I’ve done it. It’s not for everybody. It’s not my life’s calling.’
Idris Elba was first married to Hanne Morgaard but the union ended in 2003 after four years. His second marriage to make-up artist Naiyana Garth, broke down when the make-up artist failed to adjust to their new life together in the US. Idris found love again with property lawyer Sonya Hamlin in 2006 but the exes went their separate ways for good shortly after.
