Daniel, younger brother to Oke Obi-Enadhuze, a graphic designer, who died on Wednesday, says his brother was killed by thugs not a stray bullet.

Oke, a fresh graduate of computer science from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in Ogun, had breathed his last hours after tweeting “Nigeria will not end me”.

According to Daniel, armed thugs had invaded Makinde police station at Mafoluku, Oshodi area of Lagos state at about 11am on Wednesday and set the building on fire. Daniel said the hoodlums had thereafter proceeded to houses within the barracks and started destroying properties including his mother’s two cars.

He explained that the hoodlums then made way into their house after breaking the door, carting away different items. Daniel said while they were raiding the apartment, Oke had appealed to them to spare their lives but seemingly rankled by his plea, the hoodlums had pushed him away and stabbed him on the neck.
“My brother, on trying to get them to take everything but spare us, was pushed to my mom’s room and stabbed on the neck,” he wrote.

He said the assailants would later come after him after brutalising his brother, stabbing him in the chin. He added that Oke was rushed to two hospitals afterwards in a wheelbarrow but was rejected because he was “already dead” until he finally passed away. Daniel said the incident had left the family shattered as the hoodlums took away their belongings and set their house ablaze.

“Unfazed, we moved him to another hospital, where he met the same treatment. This was where he bled his last drops of blood and died. His body has now been moved to a morgue. Let it be known that my brother @O_Okee (Oke) was NOT killed by a police bullet, but died a hero protecting my mother and me.”

Meanwhile, Nigerians have started supporting a GoFundMe campaign launched to enable the deceased’s family survive the sad incident. The fundraiser has raked in £13,302 (N6,637,698).
