There is currently tension in Anambra State following the death of over 50 Catholic worshippers as gunmen launched an early morning attack during a Sunday mass service at 7 am.

Over 50 worshipers were reportedly killed as unknown gunmen took the Catholic worshippers at ‎St. Phillip’s Catholic Church, Ugwu Oye in Ozubulu, Anambra State, unawares,  shooting sporadically on the worshippers. The shooting lead to many deaths leaving many more with various degree of injuries.

Governor Willie Obiano has since visited the church where the dastardly act was committed and also visited the wounded at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching hospital, Nnewi where they are receiving treatment.
