In recent times, social media has been awash with stories of the alleged crash of the four year old marriage of Olugbemiro Tokunbo, more popularly known as GT Da Guitarman to Annie Obiageli.
Confirming the development, the singer said he has been separated from his wife for about six months.

He said, “I have been separated from my wife for about six months but I don’t know how the news got out. Couples disagree and fight, so it’s not much of a big deal. For all that its worth, she is still my wife, as we are not divorced yet.

“She remains one of the most amazing human beings that I have ever known. She gave me two amazing kids, so I would just focus on the good times we had. Even if we cannot salvage the relationship, I wish her the best. I pray that we are able to bring up our kids in the way of the lord. I want to use this medium to tell people to let my private life remain private. I don’t like putting my affairs in the public,” he said.

On the lessons he has learnt from his marital experience, GT said, “There are better words than ‘love’ that I now cling to. I feel words such as commitment and loyalty are more important. I feel there is no fast rule when it comes to love. It involves a lot of work, patience, commitment and understanding. Commitment has to do with both the present, past and future. For those who want to get married, put God first and resolve issues between yourselves. Don’t bring in third parties.”

The union while it lasted produced a baby boy.

GT who has been away from the social scene and is known for the Rhythm and Blues genre disagreed with the notion that love songs are not commercially successful in Nigeria, adding that will be coming back with a lot of love songs.
