It has been revealed that former Lagos Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode is the alleged owner of a new luxury hotel project, the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

The hotel located on Ladoke Akintola Road, Ikeja GRA, Lagos State, is a fortress of opulence which is poised to redefine both his legacy and Lagos’ ever-evolving hospitality landscape, particularly with the Ikeja axis of the state and GRA which has other luxury hotels such as Lagos Marriott, the Radisson Blu Ikeja, and Sheraton Hotel all within close reach.

For Ambode, the foundation of the Hyatt Regency was laid not just in brick and mortar, but in the dust and dreams of a governorship tenure cut short. In an act of resilience, where others may have retreated, Ambode pivoted. His focus shifted from the corridors of power to the halls of luxury, birthing a vision that was first conceived while he held the title of Lagos Governor.

The hotel which has been three years in the making, is a 120-room luxury hotel developed in partnership with Churchgate, a titan in Nigeria’s real estate sector.

Construction of the Hyatt Regency began in earnest in the first quarter of 2021, and though the initial timeline projected completion by mid-2024, Ambode’s determination saw the hotel finished ahead of schedule, defying the odds once again.

For those who believed Ambode’s political journey ended with his departure from office, the Hyatt Regency is a reminder that ambition never truly sleeps.
