Over the weekend, Modupe Alakija, the estranged husband of Africa’s richest woman, Folorunsho Alakija, joined his relatives to bid a final farewell to Adekunle Alabi Alakija a member of the Alakija family.

Although Modupe was present, he was to say the least, unimpressively dressed in a button-down shirt shabbily tucked into a pair of trousers.

Some have attributed his look at the burial to mean that it may just be an aftermath of being thrown out of his matrimonial home by his wife, a former society matriarch turned minister of the gospel, who was a no show at the burial.

Recall that early last year, news of their separation after over 30 years of marriage made the headlines.

The mother of four it was reported now spends cold nights in her matrimonial bed in her highbrow Ikoyi, Lagos home.

The couple were alleged to have been having frequent squabbles which allegedly necessitated the wealthy woman to kick him out of  her home.

Modupe was forced to seek accommodation elsewhere and allegedly lives alone within the same Ikoyi neighbourhood.

Sources revealed that it had not all been smooth sailing for the couple these past few years and they have allegedly been forced to put up a united front because of their status in the society.

The deceased fondly referred to as Uncle K led a distinguished career, spanning several decades.

He began his professional journey at Standard Bank Ltd now FirstBank where he rose through the ranks to become a branch manager. He would later join Nigeria Bags Manufacturing Company, BAGCO.

A jolly good fellow, he would be remembered for his warmth, generosity and kindness.
