Herve Leger, the fashion designer who created the ‘bandage dress’ made popular by Kim Kardashian-West and Rihanna has passed away at the age of 60. However, the cause of his death is yet to be confirmed. Herve Leger, founded his fashion brand under his original namesake in 1985, after meeting Karl Lagerfield and working as his assistant at Fendi and Chanel.

He went on to create the iconic figure-hugging bandage dress, made up of bandage-style strips of cloth, and it made its debut on the runway in 1989. At that point it was dubbed ‘the bender’ because it moulded the body into the perfect female form, like a modern-day corset.

It was loved by celebrities around the world and at its peak popularity, was worn by stars including Kim Kardashian, Rhianna, Beyonce and Mariah Carey. Later in career his designs were worn by the likes of Taylor Swift, Victoria Beckham, Celine Dion and Dita Von Teese. He went on to change his name from Leger to Leroux when his brand was bought out
