In a rare expression of friendship, former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently hosted a classy party to commemorate the 60th birthday of billionaire business woman, Hajia Bola Shagaya at the Clear Essence California Spa & Wellness Resort, Ikoyi. Obasanjo who was out of the country when the society doyenne hosted a superlative and memorable birthday celebration in October, decided to honour her with a special evening attended by very close friends and family members.

In a passionate speech, Obasanjo stated that he had to host the party to express his appreciation to Bola Shagaya who is an in-law to Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, whom he described as a remarkable woman and friend indeed. He described how she was close to his late wife, Stella, stood by her when he was imprisoned, stood by them when she was ill and was a pillar of support for her son, Muyiwa, when she died. He added that it was Shagaya that almost single-handedly bankrolled the wedding of Muyiwa. He said that despite all she did for the family, Bola Shagaya never called him even once when he was in government for any favours.

Hajia Shagaya in an emotional speech thanked the former President for the honour of hosting a diamond jubilee party for her. She urged all to imbibe the habit of investing in people and doing good without expecting anything in return. Some of the guests at the event included: Rev. Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi, Pastor Mrs Siju Iluyomade, Hajia Abah Folawiyo, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, Princess Abiodun Omotade, Mr Benny Obaze, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, Prof. Toyin Ashiru, Mr Emeka Okeke, Lagos Com of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, Mr  Lanre Ogunlesi, Mrs Adetutu Ayeni, Alhaja Tai Elemesho-Okesanjo,  Joke Sogunro and Michael Effiong.
