When a lady, Kezia Robinson Uwak alerted the public last about two weeks ago via Twitter, of a most recent attempt on her life by her husband, after several attempts, in a bid to prevent her from leaving her marriage, not many knew exactly who she was or could easily recognize the name. Many assumed it was a random social media user who found herself entangled in another case of domestic violence. As expected, many users advised her to contact the police for her own safety or leave the marriage.
It however took the revelations of her husband, Robinson Uwak a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Oron, Mbo, Okobo,Ure-Offong/Oruko and Udung-uko federal constituency of Akwa Ibom State in the 7th National Assembly, for things to come to light.
Uwak accused his wife, Kezia of cheating on him with Benjamin Kalu, a serving House of Representative member on the platform of All Progressive Congress for Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State. He accused Kalu of allegedly breaking his marriage to Kezia, his wife of a little over a year. Uwak, who made the allegation claimed that his wife has Kalu’s mistress and that Kalu allegedly lied to her that he is no longer with his wife only for Kezia to later discover that his wife and children are all holed up in Australia. She then broke up with Kalu, moved on, met him (Uwak) and married him.
According to Uwak, Kalu began an office romance his staff Kezia in 2017 despite being a married man with six children. The affair lasted until Kezia met and married Uwak in 2021. But despite being a married woman, Uwak alleged that Kalu continued his illicit affair with his wife. According to Uwak, Kalu will allegedly book hotel rooms, inviting Kezia to sleep with him. Things however went sour when Uwak got wind of the alleged affair between his wife and Kalu. When confronted about the allegations of cheating, Kezia according to Uwak, promptly connived with Kalu to allegedly abscond with their one-year-old twins.
Uwak allege that Kalu booked and paid for a hotel room for two days where he kept Kezia and his (Uwak’s) children. Uwak also accused Kalu who is the House Committee Chairman on Media, of abusing his office by spreading a false narrative about him and to intimidate him whilst still having an affair with his wife. This Uwak claims is responsible for all the negative stories about him in recent times. Uwak also alleged that all of Kalu’s efforts is simply to get Kezia to leave him (Uwak) and become his (Kalu) wife. Uwak also claimed that he intercepted a text message allegedly sent to his wife by Kalu to allegedly poison him so he can marry her.
Confused about what next to do, Uwak allegedly reported the matter to Kalu’s godfather, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the senate chief whip to keep his political son in check. In his petition to Orji Kalu, Uwak alleged that Kalu has reached out to the Department of State Security to arrest him on trumped up charges of domestic violence and has vowed to send him to jail so that he will feel free to have his wife as he pleases.
“I bring this to your notice because with all due respect Your Excellency my Senator, without you Benjamin Kalu would never have seen the gates of the National Assembly. He has used his position and relationships with the media to cause irreparable damage to my image. I bring this to your notice because I know you as an upright senior citizen who would not support let alone condone this evil as currently being perpetuated by Benjamin Kalu. I have more information including the apartment where he kept my wife and children for two days after she absconded with our one year old twins,” an excerpt of the petition to Orji Uzor Kalu read.
Uwak however did not reveal the outcome of his petition but from all indications, it doesn’t look like he made a headway as not only has his wife refuted all his infidelity allegation, she insists that Uwak is a wife beater who will cook up unfounded allegations against her just to cover up his violent nature and prevent her from quitting the marriage before he kills her.
She alleged that Uwak’s father and her parents have a recording of when he told them he was ready to commit murder, that is, send her to an early grave. She also refuted Uwak’s claim that she ran away with their children and is holed up in an apartment paid for by Kalu. Kezia allege that it is Uwak instead who went to Calabar in Cross River State to abduct their children using masked men in camouflage and that she is yet to set eyes on her children for over two weeks they have been abducted. She also claimed that Uwak maltreated her parents, one time they came visiting and following the constant battery on her, she reported him to National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP where he signed an undertaking never to touch her again, an undertaking he has refused to honour.
She challenged him to release evidence of the cheating allegations he accused her of and he claims to have, adding that she has all the proof she needs to present in a court of law when she sues him. She insists that she is done with the marriage for good.
