For her visit to Nigeria, British Prime Minister, Theresa May thought it wise to wear a piece by a Nigerian designer and chose to wear a jacket made by Emmanuel Okoro, the Creative Director of fashion house, Emmy Kasbit.

Emmanuel Okoro, was approached by the British Council last week to design two original jackets for a British VIP – but he wasn’t told who it was until earlier this week. The Prime Minister chose the custom aso-oke jacket and wore it as she arrived in Abuja earlier today.
The prime minister who was excited at wearing the 27 year old’s design, made sure she meet with him on arrival in Lagos.

Birthed in January 2014 due to his passion to clothe the unconventional man and woman who believe their outfit is deliberate and not accidental, Emmy Kasbit is an ethical fashion brand. A self-taught designer, he has a lot of internships under his belt working under established designers and production houses so I had the experience before starting his brand.

Emmanuel Okoro was the lucky recipient of the Lagos Fashion Week, Fashion Focus Fund in 2017.
