The wedding and event planning space in Nigeria just got expanded with the coming of Elie Berchan, an internationally acclaimed wedding and events company, that has within a short span of its existence, become the choice destination  wedding and events company.

With headquarters in Lebanon and branches around the world – the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Switzerland, France, London, Greece and Lebanon – Lagos, Nigeria seemed  like the perfect next destination and first port of call in Africa, judging by the rich cultural heritage of the state which blends well with its cosmopolitan vibes. And also because inclusive of its clients from different parts of the world, are those from Nigeria.

In addition to introducing its bespoke services, that is bringing to reality, client’s hopes and aspiration, the company also launched a unique product which it aptly calls La Table by Elie Berchan. They are handmade table linen and napkins that have been carefully crafted to suit specific needs such as weddings, events, hotel or personal use. Made of silk, lace, brocade, Jaquard, cotton, taffeta etc. they also come in very different colours such as burgundy, pink, beige, blue, gold, white etc, giving clients a variety of options to chose from

While clients can only have them custom made in their desired designs and to also suit specific wedding/event themes, which can be later reused for different occasions or as giveaway gifts, there are plans in the works to have them eventually sold in selected stores.

Explaining the rationale behind custom made table clothes and napkins, the self named founder, Lebanese born Elie Berchan said that he has been fascinated with table linens for as long as he can remember. “It is something I got from my mum who is a great host. In the Middle East we are very much into having people around so my mum was always very particular about her table linens. So when I got into the wedding industry, I noticed that the table linens used from rentals tended to be of a lesser quality than we usually like to have. I missed seeing table linen of international standards, besides it is much cheaper and much nicer to produce our own table linen

“So I then began to custom make ours and as much as people asked for them, we decided to work with great designers and make something for those who wanted something very unique. If you go back to the roots of French era and culture, people used to hand embroider everything and we are bringing that back but with a twist.

A product of some of the best hospitality management schools in Switzerland, Elie adds that as a child, he enjoyed designing, acting and sewing and even though he is in the hospitality business now, his  hobbies come really handy into the business which revolves round decorating, designing and making the table cloth and napkins

Having been around for only seven years, Elie Berchan has been the recipient of several awards including the 2014 Top 100 World Wide International Destination Wedding Planners in Athens by TWT; a gold award in Asia for The Best Wedding Décor Company in 2015, for the transformation of a ballroom into a winter wonderland. It has also been nominated as the top international wedding planner in various international magazines all around the world.
