Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai who had planned to visit the deposed Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi at Awe in Nasarawa State where he has been holed up since his dethronement was unable to, as the governor was barred by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, who said the governor’s visit could spark crisis, PremiumTimes is reporting.
El-Rufai was finally able to visit Sanusi his childhood friend earlier today and made his intentions to move Sanusi out of the town as backed by a court order. He led the former Emir, his mother, Saudatu Hussein, and his three children out of Awe, Nasarawa State. They left the community at about 4p.m for Abuja, and later flew to Lagos to meet other members of Sanusi’s family.
Sanusi had on Monday been dethroned by the Governor of Kano State, Umar Ganduje, who accused the former emir of disrespecting constituted authorities by not taking part in the state’s official activities.
Earlier, hours after Mr. Sanusi’s removal, the Kaduna State Government had announced his appointment into both its investment agency and as the governing council chairman of the state-owned Kaduna State University.
