Ekiti state halts Moji Olaiya’s burial in Canada, to be moved to Nigeria ……As friends set up burial committee

The burial of Nollywood actress, Moji Olaiya, earlier scheduled on Friday at 4pm in Canada, was aborted at the last minute by Ekiti State government.

The burial of Nollywood actress, Moji Olaiya, earlier scheduled on Friday at 4pm in Canada, was aborted at the last minute by Ekiti State government. Insiders at the Magodo, Lagos home of the actress revealed that the government of Ekiti volunteered to bankroll the shipment of the corpse to Nigeria.

Earlier family members of the deceased and her colleagues had agreed that she be buried in Canada as Islam enjoins including her Abuja based husband and father of her two month old baby This was regardless of the late Moji’s eldest daughter, Adunola’s insistence that her mother’s corpse be brought back to Nigeria.

However all burial plans changed with the intervention of Ekiti State government where the actress is from. The remains of the 42 year old mother of two daughters who died of cardiac arrest following childbirth complications on Thursday, May 18, in Canada, will now be ferried to Nigeria for burial.

Meanwhile a 12-man burial committee has been formed to take charge of the burial proceedings and ensure all goes well when the body arrives. They include: Fathia Balogun (chairperson), Foluke Daramola (Secretary), Yomi Fabiyi (Publicity Sec), Taiwo Adebayo (She Boy), Bisi Ibidapo Obe, Femi Olaiya(Brother to Deceased), Yinka Farinde(Canada), Shade Oliwo, Kemi Afolabi, Ronke Ojo (Oshodi Oke) and Muka Ray
