The Department of State Services, DSS, has arrested Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.

The arrest occurred in the morning hours of Monday, September 9, at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport as Ajaero was about to board a flight to the United Kingdom, UK, for an official mission.

The Nigeria Police Force in August summoned Ajaero for questioning.

He was invited over an alleged link to terrorism financing, cybercrime and other allegations.

His summon was contained in a letter issued from the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police Intelligence Response Team, Department of Force Intelligence.

The letter, which was signed by Adamu S. Muazu, threatened that failure to honour the invitation would lead to arrest.
