The co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls group, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili says that Sambisa forest is a massive expanse of land and is 18 times the size of Lagos, the country’s commercial capital with 60, 000 square kilometers.
Ezekwesili said this while on a guided tour of the forest alongside three other members of the group on the invitation of the Federal Government. The group had initially declined FG’s offer to join a military-guided search of the dreaded Sambisa Forest for the missing Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram Islamist nearly three years ago. She had listed some pre-conditions that must be met by the FG before she and members of her group would join the tour.
But after the drama played out between both groups, Ezekwesili in an email sent to the Minister of Information on Sunday, Ezekwesili beat a retreat on her preconditions for joining with a new conditional acceptance which the government met.
The tour delegation was led by the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed on Monday, January 15, 2016.
