Following the arrest of actress, Funke Akindele-Bello by the Lagos State police, for throwing a party at her home in Amen Estate, Lagos, for her husband, AbdulRasheed Bello’s 43rd birthday on Saturday, April, 4th, Dettol, a brand of disinfectant, of which Funke is an ambassador of, has issued a statement addressing the incident.

It said that having been made aware via social media of the actress’ activity, hosting over 20 people at a party, that she did so in her personal capacity, thus going against the caution to the public on social distancing during the covid-19 pandemic.

Having partnered with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on a public service message to educate communities about preventive measures against COVID-19, it therefore means that Funke is therefore not an ambassador of NCDC.

It added that as a responsible organization, Reckitt Benckister and by extension, the brand Dettol is a responsible organisation and is not in support of any violation of the guidelines on Covid-19 in Nigeria. Well reiterating their concern at the turn of events, it concluded that it will continue to support the NCDC and the Nigerian government in its fight against COVID-19
