Following talk show host, Wendy Williams’ decision to film her show with a studio audience, fellow talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres Show will also stop airing in front of a live studio audience as from March 16, due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Wendy Williams Show released a statement on their Instagram page saying,   “Wendy values her co-host and their daily participation, but in light of the current health climate, The Wendy Williams Show will not have a live studio audience until further notice. We will continue to produce a daily live talk show & look forward to welcoming the studio audience back when the time is right.”

DeGeneres equally took to her Twitter page on Thursday to break the news with her numerous fans. She explained that the decision was taken to ensure the safety of her fans.
“I have some news. For now, I’ll be shooting my show with no studio audience. To everyone who was looking forward to coming, I’m so sorry. But I’m doing this for the health of my fans, my staff & my crew. (It has nothing to do with a warrant for my arrest in the state of Florida.)”

The development comes about the same time similar shows are taking precautionary measures as the coronavirus outbreak continues to ravage different countries across the globe.

Several shows including NBC’s ‘Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ and CBS’ ‘Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ among others had on Wednesday announced they would henceforth tape their broadcasts without a live audience. The ViewGood Morning America, and game shows such as Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune have also opted out of having live audiences due to the outbreak.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recently declared coronavirus a pandemic, following its uncontrollable effect across the world.
