In the wake of fresh xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, more popularly known as Burna Boy, has vowed never to visit the country again. The self-acclaimed ‘African Giant’ took to his twitter to vent over the recent attacks, stating that he had also had his fair share of xenophobic experiences in South Africa.

According to him, although his dream had always been to see a united Africa, that dream may no longer be feasible until the government takes decisive measures against the situation.
“Okay, I have been away from social media personally until today. Ordinarily, at a time like this, I should come here and say something to try and calm the situation because my dream has always been to unite Africa and make us realize that we will Literally rule the world together,” he wrote.

“But Today After watching the killing of my people in South Africa the same way we have all watched it happen a few times in the past. Fuck all that! I personally have had my own xenophobic experiences at the hands of South Africans and because of that. I have not set foot in SA since 2017. And I will not ever go to South Africa again for any reason until the South African government wakes the fuck up and really performs A miracle because I don’t know how they can even possibly fix this.

“This goes against everything I stand for. But at what point do we take action? I understand that years of oppression have confused South Africans to the point where they see the people who came to their defense during their oppression as their enemies and then worship their oppressors.”

Meanwhile, as a solution to the continuous attacks, the ‘Gbona’ crooner has also called on Nigerians in the diaspora to return home.
“Instead of to go become dog for city…If all the Nigerians for diaspora come back with ginger for our future we go clean house wey e go shine pass shoe”, he wrote in response to a tweet by fellow musician, Davido who said, “If our country good, wetin we go find go southy ???”.

Burnaboy also came down hard for South African rapper, AKA, South African over his tension-inciting comments about Nigeria’s relationship with South Africa.

AKA had made previous comments that did not go down too well with a lot of Nigerians, including Oludemilade Martin Alejo, Afropop singer better known as Ycee, who had earlier engaged him in a fierce war of words over his inciting outburst during the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In addressing AKA, he said, “And @akaworldwide i knew you was retarded but I didn’t know it had gotten this bad. Next time I see you you better have a big security bro, On Gambos Grave ur gunna need it.”
