After celebrating her silver jubilee a few months ago, Betty Irabor, the affable publisher of Genevieve magazine may have began considerations to slow down with her very busy schedule as she has just appointed her daughter, Sonia Irabor, the editor of the lifestyle magazine.

Betty Irabor took to her twitter handle to make the announcement. She wrote:
“Today my daughter Sonia who joined Genevieve at 13 as teen zone columnist is now Editor of Genevieve. A mother’s prayer answered.”

She followed up with a congratulatory message on Friday. She wrote:
“Congratulation Sonia as you become the Editor of Genevieve magazine… God bless you mightily.”

Sonia Irabor whose dad is media consultant, Soni Irabor learnt the journalistic ropes when she began writing for the magazine which is 15 years old as a 13-year-old with the column, ‘Teen Zone.’ She rose through the ranks serving as both the assistant editor and the UK correspondent of the magazine before her elevation to the post of editor.

Sonia once said in an interview of her plan for the magazine should she mount the saddle. She said, “The journey is far from over and there is still a great deal of unchartered territory for us. We want to keep redefining the magazine and keep giving our readers, both old and new, something fresh and exciting to look forward to, to be inspired by and to fall in love with.”
