Former militant, high chief Tom Ateke recently feted 500 widows when he celebrated his birthday at his hometown in Okirika, Rivers State. The birthday celebration themed ‘Outing with the widows’ was aimed at sharing love with widows by gifting them food items, wrappers and cash.

The celebrant and philanthropist said the gesture was to impact positively on the widows who are the most vulnerable in the society, adding that widows face a lot of challenges as a result of the death of their husbands.

Nollywood star, Patience Ozokwo who was a guest of the celebrant, lauded the celebrant for his commitment to bringing happiness to the widows, adding that the gesture has shown that he is the man for all people. She used the opportunity to call on well-to-do men to emulate Ateke’s gesture to care for women, especially the widows in the society in order to give them a sense of belonging.
