Six years after it last had a glorious outing in Lagos, Arise Fashion Week, the fashion platform which gave birth to the numerous fashion platforms currently competing for attention in Nigeria’s fashion space today, is set to return at a soon to be announced date this year. A brain child of Nduka Obaigbena, the publisher of Thisday Newspaper, The Duke as Nduka is fondly called, must have had a nostalgic moment when he attended the second edition of the GT Bank Fashion Weekend last year. Seeing a replay of what he did for two consecutive years at the fashion event, he must have thought it absolutely necessary to resuscitate his pioneering vision to revolutionize the fashion industry when he birthed Arise Fashion Week.  At its inaugural edition in 2011, Nigerians and indeed Lagosians, had never experienced anything like it witnessed that year. It was the largest event of its kind ever seen on the continent. With over 5,000 guests, 51 designers, 81 models and five musical acts which performed all through the three duration of the fashion week, the fashion industry never remained the same and now it remains to be seen if The Duke will be capable to replicate his magical appeal.
