Deji Tinubu, a Senior Assistant to Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode is dead. Deji Tinubu who was formerly the Special Adviser to the Lagos State governor on Sports before being transferred to Commerce and Industry in late 2017, died after he slumped at the ongoing retreat happening in Epe, Lagos state on 25th January 2018. While as SA Sports the governor, he also doubled as the Chairman of the Sports Commission.
Deji’s deep insightful and astute comments, coupled with his gift of the gab made for an enjoyable and educative viewing and listening experience. Breaking into radio and television production, broadcast and analysis in the late eighties, Deji’s company, Sportvision Nigeria, redefined sports programming in Nigeria with exciting, filled with interesting content and up to date ground breaking programmes like Football Italia and the IAAF Golden league.
In 2010 he contested for and was elected into the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, where he headed the Marketing and Sponsorship committee and was a member of the Technical Committee. In October 2015 he was appointed member of the Lagos State Executive Council as the Special Adviser on Sports to His Excellency Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as well as the Chairman Lagos Sate Sports Commission.
