The Dangote Refinery, a $20 billion initiative led by billionaire Aliko Dangote, founder of Dangote Group has officially commenced petrol production, representing a major advancement in Nigeria’s energy sector.

This milestone is anticipated to ease the persistent petrol shortages affecting the country, providing significant relief to millions of Nigerians.

Dangote who made this known from his Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos refinery, revealed that the Dangote refinery will rollout 650,000 barrels of petrol daily. He also highlighted some of the health and economic benefits of PMS from his refinery to Nigerians and Africans as seen below:
Petrol from Dangote Refinery comes with obvious health benefits:

“The petrol from the refinery will improve the health of everybody because it is clean petrol. The health of the people and the environment will not be compromised. This is the real deal. The clearer petrol is more environmentally friendly and can help mitigate health problems linked to the use of polluted petroleum products.”

The refinery will eliminate all fuel queues in Nigeria as it would make sure that there’s consistent supply in the market:
“You can see some videos of 1974 where we have fuel queues. Those fuel queues are still there today. Dangote Refinery will eliminate all fuel queues in Nigeria.”

The introduction of naira for crude will reduce the demand for forex by 40%

“It would correct the distortion and instability of the naira and bring growth, development and prosperity.”

The quality of petrol from our refinery which is clearer than what is obtainable elsewhere is top notch:
“The petrol from our refinery has a different colour but that is the real deal. You are now going to have a good and real product. I am sure Nigerians have not seen this colour of diesel before. This is called Euro-5 diesel. It contains less than 10 parts per million (PPM) of sulfur. This will help vehicles, engines, and generators last longer because of the obvious quality as our quality matches that of America and any other country in the world.”

The price of PMS from the refinery will be determined by the Federal Executive Council headed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu:
“On PMS price, it is an arrangement that is designed and approved by the Federal Executive Council led by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. As soon as it is finalized, which is what he is pushing once he finishes with FEC meeting, it can be today or tomorrow we are ready to roll out in the market”, he said.

Petrol from the refinery will be available in fueling stations within 48 hours:
“We are ready to start rolling out petrol within the next 48 hours depending on the readiness of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL. We will soon finalize modalities with NNPCL to get the product across to Nigerians.”

The $20 billion refinery will show the true volume of petrol consumption in Nigeria:
“There is a lot of round-tripping where people now do documentation and the fuel does not come into Nigeria, and this is a fact. Right now, as we have this refinery working, it will show the true consumption of Nigeria. We can track every single loaded truck and we will try as much as possible to track the loaded ships. Trucks, we can tell you where they are just as now some of the products that we do, we can tell you exactly the consumption pattern.”
