Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has clinched the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the October 10 gubernatorial election. The governor secured the highest votes in the election which held at Dome in Akure the state capital.
While announcing Akeredolu as the winner of the exercise, Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi and chairman of the APC primary election committee, said he polled a total of 2,458 votes while Olusola Oke came second with 262 votes and lsaacs Kekemeke polled 19 votes.
Over 3,127 delegates voted in the election. Four of the 12 aspirants who indicated interest in the election, had earlier stepped down for Akeredolu. They are Ife Oyedele, Abraham Olusegun, Jimi Odimayo and Nathaniel Adojutelegan.
In the buildup to the election, some of the aspirants had opted for direct primary but Bello said they could not dictate to the party which had decided on indirect primary. Others aspirants who partook in the election are Awodeyi Akinsehinwa, Bukola Adetula, Sola Iji, Jumoke Anifowoshe, and Olayide Adelami.
