Apparently seeing that the action thriller genre in Nigeria’s movie industry is an untapped one, director, Eric Aghimien thought it best to save the genre from complete relegation with ‘Slow Country’ is about to save the genre this year.
The movie which made its debut on Friday, May 19, 2017 was supposed to be Eric’s first movie, but due to insufficient funds, the filmmaker chose to write and produce the award winning movie, ‘A Mile from Home’ first until he had garnered enough ‘Slow Country’.
The award winning movie, is about a homeless teenage mother, who gets herself trapped in prostitution and drug trafficking for seven years in order to secure a good life for her son and then decided to quit.
However, her boss, a ruthless drug trafficker is not ready to let go of his most trusted cash cow.
Featuring stars like Majid Michel, Richards Brutu, Sambasa Nzeribe, Ivie Okujaye, Tope Tedela, ‘Slow Country’ won the Audience Choice Award at the 2016 Africa International Film Festival.
The movie secured Sambasa his second consecutive Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award, this time around in the Best Actor in a Drama category while Ivie Okujaye, who played the lead actress was nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in the movie.
