All is now set for the first ever national Reality TV show, tagged ‘The Labour Room,’ organisers of the show announced at the conclusion of a 3-day training for contestants. About 37 contestants were chosen from across the country to participate in the national reality show where questions of national concerns would be raised and addressed.
Besides the serious issues, special features in the national reality show would thrill Nigerians as it has been designed for maximum entertainment. The organisers also announced that four winning contestants would share N200, 000,000 as prize money, at the end of the show.
Ahead of the commencement of the show, the prospective contestants went through intensive sessions to have a better picture of what their 60-day stay in the mansion would look like and to understand their roles as housemates. Captains of industries from all walks of life were on ground to facilitate and drill the contestants on the ideals of the show.
One of the organiser’s strong points is to sensitize the public against sexual abuse, immoral relationship, and other forms immoralities.
“Relatively, the show will address the question of religious and ethnic tolerance. The organization cannot allow immorality and socio-economic decadence to fester and as such, the Nigerian youth should take up their destiny in their hands,’’ National Coordinator of the project, Comrade Isaac Balami David reiterated.
He said it was time for youths to stop complaining about their problems when they can collectively solve it in their individual ways’, stressing that no one else knows our narrative better than us and no one else can fix things better than us.
The show is projected to have over 200 million viewers across Africa and the world as the organisers have said, a major peculiarity of the show is the value it places on entertainment, despite its pace-setting approach towards nation development. According to the organizers, the second phase of the show, which will be characterized by regular interactions of the housemates, will kick off on July 1, 2017.
“Governors, first class traditional rulers, and top political leaders from Nigeria and across the world are expected to visit the house at interval to interact with the housemates and to spice up the show,’’ the organisers added.
The show is being organised and powered by the Nigeria Rebirth Foundation, a project inaugurated at the Banquet hall of the Presidential villa in March, 2016. The show has as its grand patron, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the wife of the President of Nigeria, Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie, Nigeria’s former and longest-serving Inspector General of Police, as Chairman of its governing board and the Ooni of Ife as its Royal Father.
