Olujonwo Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has pleaded with Temitope, his estranged wife and the daughter of Premier Lotto founder, Kessington Adebutu, for forgiveness.
Olujonwo and Temitope married in May 2017 but separated just a few months later.
Olujonwo in a statement he made public expressed his desire to reconcile with Temitope and mend their relationship. He apologised to Temitope for the hurt and pain he caused, acknowledging his role in the challenges they faced. He also accepted responsibility for rebuilding the trust and love they once shared.
Olujonwo reminisced about the beautiful moments they shared and the bond they once had, stating that those memories are too precious to let go. He admitted that their marriage, like any, has had its ups and downs, but he is willing to work towards healing and rebuilding their relationship.
Background
Barely a year after their lavish wedding Olujonwo sought the dissolution of his marriage over allegations of domestic violence. Court documents revealed that shortly after the wedding ceremony, Olajuwon allegedly suffered from physical assaults from his wife as well as threats to his life. He called on the court to intervene and help prevent further attacks on his person.
Temitope on her part, revealed that she has never been loved by her husband. Not only was she abandoned during their honeymoon in Monaco, she claimed her husband allegedly spent his time with other women while she waited for him to arrive since they did not travel together.
She revealed his penchant for abandoning not only their home but their matrimonial bed which he barely slept.
“He was not close enough to me to consummate our marriage, which remains unconsummated as he maintained the constant habit of despising and distancing himself from me despite several efforts, I made to endear myself to him. He always meted emotional and psychological hardship on me through the act of abandoning me in his father’s house where he kept me and rendering himself incommunicado during the period of desertion without giving me any reasonable or justifiable explanations upon his return,” she revealed.
She also alleged that Olujonwo was a drug addict who at some point had to go through rehabilitation at a private hospital.
Just before the marriage took place, Olujonwo’s mother Taiwo Obasanjo had repeatedly spoken out against the wedding with efforts made to postpone the wedding ceremony. She had described the marriage as devilish and also made allegations of attempted assassination.

“For some time now, our relationship has been marred by seemingly irreconcilable differences, painful moments that led us down the path of separation, and even divorce proceedings.
“Yet, despite the hurt and the distance that has grown between us, recent events have led me to reassess the foundation of our marriage with a fresh perspective.
“There have been moments of quiet reflection, as well as the intervention of caring and trusted individuals, who have encouraged us to consider what brought us together in the first place: the love, the dreams, and the bond that we once shared.
“And in this space of reflection, I have come to the realisation that our relationship is worth another chance. My deepest desire is for reconciliation, for healing and for the restoration of what was lost.
“I recognise the role I played in the challenges we faced and fully accept my responsibility to rebuild the trust and love that we once had. This is not a journey I take lightly, but one that Iam ready to face with sincerity, humility, and unwavering dedication.
“When I reflect on the beautiful moments we have shared, the joy, the laughter, the dreams of the future, I am reminded of why I chose Temitope as my partner. And though our marriage, like any, has had its ups and downs, those moments of happy partnership and the bond we shared are far too precious to let go.
“It is with this deep understanding and love that I now ask my wife for forgiveness for the hurt I have caused and for the pain I have inflicted knowingly and unknowingly.
“My hope is that Temitope is ready to release the anger, the resentment, and the wounds of the past. I know that the road ahead will not be easy, but I am willing to put in the effort to make it right, no matter how much it takes.
“I believe in the power of faith, love, and determination to overcome obstacles, and I am ready to begin this uneasy yet necessary journey of healing and rebuilding.
