Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of President Bola Tinubu, has been appointed as ambassador for the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education.
Muhammad Idris, the commission’s executive secretary, announced her appointment during a visit to her Lagos residence on Friday.
Idris expressed concern over the plight of Almajiris, who he said have been brainwashed into begging, terrorism, banditry, and other social vices.
He stressed the importance of collaboration, urging non-governmental organizations, philanthropists, and compassionate Nigerians to support the government in guiding them towards a better future.
He cited Tinubu-Ojo’s passion for supporting disadvantaged communities, particularly Almajiri and out-of-school children, as the basis for her appointment as ambassador.
He also praised her efforts in promoting trade and commerce” and advocating for resources and opportunities for market women.
“I am deeply honoured by this appointment and I’m committed to alleviating the plight of these vulnerable Nigerians,” she said.
She highlighted her father’s dedication to education, calling it a lasting legacy for Nigerian children.
“A trained child is an insurance to the generation and to a nation. So I want to tell you that education is very, very important to our dear president,” she said.
“He always emphasizes that the only legacy he is willing to leave is education to the children.”
