Following his reconciliation with both Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State governor and his godfather, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after their messy fallout, Akinwunmi Ambode, the former Lagos governor has not only found a pride of place in the heart of the man who made him governor and kicked him out when he derailed, he has also now been offered a seat in Council of the Governors’ Advisory Council, GAC, the highest decision-making body of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State.

Getting a seat in GAC is nothing short of a way to restore his political relevance and to further prove that bygones is bygones. The first sign that all is now well among the trio was when Sanwo-Olu visited his predecessor, Ambode, at his residence on the occasion of his 60th birthday celebration and when Ambode made a rare appearance at the state dinner held for Tinubu in Lagos shortly after he became president.

At the twilight of Ambode’s first tenure, he clashed with Sanwo-Olu prior to the 2019 governorship election when he realised he wouldn’t get the support of the powers that be, that is, Tinubu and some APC stakeholders in the state, for a second term. He was accused of several atrocities and despite trying to win over the voting populace in the state by vilifying Sanwo-Olu, he lost out eventually.

Recall that about a year ago, Femi Pedro, a former deputy governor of Lagos State who also fell out with Tinubu, received forgiveness after being relegated politically into oblivion for a long time and also got a seat in GAC.
