Following the immediate definite suspension of Abdulrasheed Bawa, the erstwhile chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday over weighty allegations of abuse of office, Abdulkarim Chukkol has been appointed in his place in an acting capacity.

Until his appointment, Chukkol was the agency’s Director of Operations.

He was one of the young officers elevated in rank following the appointment of Bawa over a year and half ago.

Chukkol os a trained investigator/detective.

He earned a degree from the University of Maiduguri in 2000 and has attended various trainings such as FBI National Academy, Quantico Session 244 2011, University of Virginia Postgraduate Diploma in Criminal Justice Education 2011 and United States Telecommunications Training Institute Cybersecurity and Spectrum Monitoring 2010.

Chukkol was also at the Canadian Police College Criminal Justice Education course in
2006.

His focused drive to his investigations yielded him partnerships with leading agencies like the Serious Organised Crimes Agency of the United Kingdom, Queensland Police of Australia, the Federal Bureau of Investigations of the US and the Office of Inspector General of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Bawa’s suspension according to a statement, by the office of the SGF, is to allow for a proper investigation into his conduct while in office following some weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him by some stakeholders in the anti-corruption fight.
