A cross section of Nigerians have reacted to the closure of Wonderland Events Centre by the Lagos State government after a guest was electrocuted at the place.
Recall that on Christmas Day, a social media user had accused Ezekiel Adamu the founder of Wonderland at Eko Energy City Lagos, for his negligence over the careless litter of naked wires in the fun city.
In a video put out by the social media user, a naked wire can be seen left unattended to at the fun city, while children and young adults were busy having fun.
Unfortunately, one of the children oblivious of the naked wire around the bouncy castle section got electrocuted.
The screams and anguish of being electrocuted cause other fun seekers at the fun city to abandon their activities despite the fact that they had paid to be allowed into the wonderland for fun.
Shutting down the event centre, the Director General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Lanre Mojola in a joint inspection with the Lagos State Task Force team stated that the intervention has “become imperative to prevent further exposure of attendees, particularly kids at the venue to prevent accidents that can lead to injuires and fatalities.”
A statement by the Commission said that Mojola further disclosed that the event venue owner – Ezekiel Adamu who also owns Bslmoral Events Centres had refused to implement safety measures prescribed by the Commission despite several meetings at the onset of the project following an initial safety inspection exercise carried out on the venue to deliberate on safety infractions observed within the facility.
Below is the reaction of some Nigerians on the centre being shut down.
