Exactly eight days after the ugly incidence of disrupting Anambra State governor, Charles Soludo’s inauguration, the wife of the immediate past governor of the state, Ebelechukwu Obiano, has formally tendered an apology to Soludo, for igniting the fracas.

Obiano had arrived late for the inauguration which took place at the Government House, Awka, and after a while, moved straight to Bianca, wife of the late Biafran leader, the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, and ignited an altercation which resulted in the ex-governor’s wife leaving the place unceremoniously.

As seen in viral videos from the event, the former First Lady had walked from her seat to where Bianca was seated and was said to have said something which got Bianca angry, leading to the ugly scene.

Bianca had in a reaction got up from her seat and retorted to Mrs. Obiano, who was said to have been slapped after touching Bianca inappropriately.

The former First Lady, who was immediately prevented from further exacerbating the issue, was pulled away from Bianca and later led away by her security details.

In a statement, Obiano, in tendering an apology to Soludo and other dignitaries present, said there was no justification for the public embarrassment that happened on the day.

“Those who know me can testify that before and throughout my eight years as the First Lady of state, I pursued peace, promoted philanthropic gestures which empowered many of our less privileged people.

“No excuses can therefore be tenable as justification for such public embarrassment, no matter the height of provocation.

“Equally, I wish to extend the same apology to all the important dignitaries, the people of Anambra State, as well as the entire Ndigbo for that unintended embarrassment at the occasion.”
