Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie is following in the footsteps of her politician husband purely by chance and not of her own making. The mother of three has been appointed as the senior special assistant on entertainment, arts and culture to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.

Mercy, who took a break from the movie industry to focus on raising a family was appointed alongside 53 other Senior Special Assistants earlier today in her home state. The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Ayoade Arike, who stated that the new officers will resume office from April 1.

According to her, the appointments will plug identified gaps in service delivery, fill key positions with the right people and broaden inclusiveness in governance by bringing people from more communities on board.

Mercy will be joining her colleagues such as Desmond Elliot, Richard Mofe damijo, Bob Manuel Udokwu and Ini Edo who have also ventured into politics.
