Following the death of President Muhammadu Buhari’s late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, the hospital where the late 82-year-old was receiving treatment the past few weeks before giving up the ghost has been revealed. It is none other than First Cardiology Consultant, a state of the art cardiac and surgery hospital located in serene 20A Thompson Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria.

Despite the disappointing state of the health care system in Nigeria, First Cardiology Consultant is one of the few health facilities known to be reputable and good at what they do, which is all heart and respiratory issues related, as can be attested to by the many elites who throng the place.

While it is not the only cardiovascular hospital in Lagos, Nigeria, perhaps the fact that the hospital performed its first and successful open heart surgery a few years ago and also because it has been in existence for about 10 years made it the first choice for treatment for the late Chief of Staff who also had underlying health issues like diabetes and high blood pressure.

Run by the trio of Dr. Yemi Johnson, Dr. Kofo Ogunyankin and Dr Onyekwelu Nzewi, all of who garnered their many years of experience practicing in some of the best hospitals in the US and Ireland respectively, the urgent need to fill the void that Nigeria’s health care system has been unable to, for cardiovascular ailments, prompted the three professionals to return home and meet that need.
