Following the debunking of a viral list purportedly signed by the Ministry of Finance, of wealthy members of the society who have made donations towards containing the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, billionaire business man, Femi Otedola has now released the authentic list of donors.

“Matching words with action is the hallmark of Integrity, hence my fufillment of my N1 billion donation which has been published above by the Central Bank of Nigeria. My word is my bond and this has always been the bedrock on which my life is based. I salute the other contributors listed above who have honoured their pledge and call on those who are yet to fulfill their own pledges to this noble cause that will undoubtedly save lives,” he said.

The  donors list which contains names of wealthy members of the society such as Femi Otedola himself, Tony
himself, Tony Elumelu, Aliko Dangote, Segun Agbaje, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Herbert Wigwe, Deji Adeleke, Oba Otudeko, Jim Ovia. It also contains names of corporate organisations as well like Union Bank, Sterling Bank, Wema Bank etc. In all there are a total of 37 names.

The monetary contributions from these individuals and organisations is being handled by the Central Bank of Nigeria where the account is domiciled. The CBN had initaited the plan to raise about N120bn to be called COVID-19 relief fund. While the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele was to co ordinate contributions from banks, Aliko Dangote was tasked with the duty of co ordinating contributions from the private sector.
