The police has arrested actress, Funke Akindele-Bello for hosting a party for her husband, AbdulRasheed Bello, mre popularly known as JJC Skillz, who turned 43 on Saturday April 4th in violation of the restriction orders in Lagos amidst the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.
In attendance at the party were singer, Naira Marley, actress, Eniola Badmus, comedian, Akpororo and several others numbering over 20. Nigerians had earlier called for the arrest of the actress who is Dettol and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control ambassador, for the violation.
Funke would later apologise over the incident saying that the people who attended the party were her crew members who had to stay back at the estate and couldn’t return to their homes because of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana in a statement said, “The attention of Lagos State Police Command was drawn to a viral video showing a large number of persons mainly in the entertainment industry in an Estate, along Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki axis, Lagos celebrating a birthday party organised by Funke Akindele Bello and her husband. Police detectives from the State CID Yaba were promptly drafted to the location.
“Funke Akindele was arrested. Investigation is ongoing, efforts are intensified to arrest the remaining persons in the video, among whom are Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley and Abdul Rasheed Bello a.k.a. JJC Skillz. They are in their best interests urged to report at the State CID Yaba on Monday 6th April, 2020 or risk being declared wanted.”
The Lagos Infection Disease Regulations 2020 prescribes a jail term of one month or a fine of N100,000 or both for violators of the lockdown order.
