The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has ordered all political appointees in his administration to submit their academic credentials and curriculum vitae for vetting. Abiodun made this call through a circular signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi.
“Kindly note that all political appointees are required to submit copies of their academic qualifications along with an updated copy of their curriculum vitae. These documents should be collated and submitted to the office of the Secretary to the State Government,” the circular marked SSG/ADM.22/251 read.
This order isn’t unconnected to the controversy generated by the appointment of a sacked Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye lecturer, Prof. Sidi Osho who was one of 19 cleared by the State House of Assembly. She was recently confirmed as the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology. Osho was, however, absent at the inauguration, as news of her purported sacking went viral on the social media and many berated the government for her nomination.
The Food Systems Agriculture expert, who once worked at the Department of Home Science and Hospitality Management, College of Agricultural Sciences, OOU, Yewa campus, was reportedly sacked in March 2016 for gross misconduct. She reportedly been making overtures to the university’s Governing Council to convert her sack to retirement.
