The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Sokoto zonal office, yesterday, arrested a suspected politician, said to be related to the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, SSG, Professor Abdullahi Shinkafi, with N60,000,000 (Sixty Million Naira) cash, following intelligence report of alleged suspicious money laundering activities.

Confirming the incidence, Tony Orilade, the acting head, media and publicity, EFCC, said the suspect, Murtala Muhammad alleged to be a brother to the SSG, was arrested at No.145 Igala Hausing Estate, Off by-pass Road, Gusau, Zamfara State, by the operatives of the Commission.

He said items recovered from him at the point of arrest include: one Black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Jeep with registration number DKA 67 PX Kaduna, four Ghana- Must – Go bags containing One Thousand Naira notes of Fifteen Million Naira each, totaling Sixty Million Naira; One single barrel gun; one locally made revolve pistol, 25 rounds of cartridges and 12 rounds of 12.9mm live ammunitions.

Orilade said investigations into the matter has commenced and the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
