Segun Awolowo jnr, the executive director/ceo, Nigerian Exports Promotion Council and first grandson of the great Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, recently hosted the crème of high society to his first daughter, Seun’s traditional wedding ceremony to Akintoye Bode-Kayode, the son of Olabode and Osayomwanbo Kayode, both late.

While the bride who holds a degree in Politics and International Studies from Warwick University is a motivational speaker and runs an NGO called Teach-A-Girl, which focuses on Girl Child education in Nigeria. She is also the founder of Leads Africa and 3D Living Moments. The groom, a graduate of Economics from the University of Reading, is an account manager with SmartTransit USA, operators of Smart Metro and Safe Rail. He is also the founder of a lifestyle start-up, Neocove.

The lavish ceremony which took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos had friends of the bride’s father wearing purple caps akin to that of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo in honour to the statesman.

Not to be left out, the bride’s paternal grandmother, Princess Abah Folawiyo, a matriarch of Nigeria’s social establishment and a doyen of the fashion industry, also made sure that her Ghanaian roots was well represented as the couple adorned Kente, a Ghanaian fabric alongside their aso oke fabric.

The ceremony which was chaired by a close friend of the Segun Awolowo, Senator Lanre Tejuosho had in attendance, the vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the first lady of Ghana, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the governor-elect, Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, the governor-elect, Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governors of former Delta State governor, Chief James Ibori,Oyo and Ekiti States; Kayode Fayemi and Abiola Ajimobi and a host of others.
