Sowore, founder of Sahara Reporters, in a statement to his supporters, titled, ‘A SPECIAL THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND SUPPORT,’ said,⠀
“I would like to thank you for helping achieve what they said we couldn’t do. With your support, we separated ourselves from the godfathers and godmothers who have held Nigerians in oppression with stolen funds, and we showed that campaigns could be carried out with minimal funds and maximum passion. As we head into the next phase of our Movement, we cannot forget where we started from: that it was men and women like you who believed so fervently in Nigeria who got us this far. We will now be shutting down the GoFundMe Account as it has now served its purpose. Nigeria MUST progress, and yesterday, with your help, we took a step towards a brighter future.⠀
