In what has shocked many and unlike his comrades in arms; Dino Melaye, Yakubu Dogara and Ike Ekweremadu, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki will not be returning to the senate as he has lost his seat as the representative of Kwara Central Senatorial District to APC’s Ibrahim Oloriegbe. Saraki won the seat on the platform of APC before defecting to the PDP.

Similarly, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo has lost his bid to become senator after his term as governor. The governor who was seeking to represent Oyo south in the hallowed chamber lost his bid to Kola Balogun, the PDP candidate. Ajimobi goes into history as the first Oyo governor to break the second term jinx.

Ibrahim Dankwambo, a two-term governor of Gombe has also lost out in his bid to represent Gombe north senatorial district in the national assembly. The governor, who contested under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was defeated by Sa’idu Alkali of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Dankwambo had earlier lost in the bid to secure the presidential ticket of the PDP.
