Supposedly defunct music group, Styl-Plus once made up of Shifi, Tunde and Zeal have made plans to reboot their music career with their recent signing of a recording deal with Eskimo records. The Nigerian music group who were once fan favourites are now staging this come back with only Shifi and Zeal, the surviving members of the singing group once made up of four dynamic young men. The R&B/Pop group came to limelight in the late 90s with Tunde Akinsanmi, Shifi Emoefe, Yemi Akinwunmi, and Lanre Faneyi all called STYL. Unfortunately, one member, Lanre Faneyi died shortly after the group was inaugurated, thus paving the way for Zeal Onyecheme to join, causing the group to change its name to STYL-Plus. However, another member, Yemi would leave in 2002 leaving the remaining three members of the group to formally launch as a singing group in 2003. In 2006, they released an 11 track album, Expressions which contained songs such as Olufunmi, Runway, Imagine that, among many others. The group received both local and international awards for their efforts. In May 2008, the group released a second album titled Back and Better. Unfortunately, they were unable to sustain the high tempo that greeted their debut and second album. This may have probably caused a strain in their relationship and consequently, Tunde one half of the group threw in the towel. This threw a big blow to all they have achieved but the remaining two trudged on. Now married, Tunde went on to rebrand himself as NativeBoy, recording several songs, one of which was a gospel/neo-soul tune, Jesu Feran Mi, under his own record label, B.A.T. Records. The duo of Shifi and Zeal have had a hard time making a significant comeback. Perhaps, this new record deal would just be the much needed ‘miracle’ they have both been waiting for.
