The first child of late Major General Tunde Idiagbon, Adekunle, has clashed with an aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Abdulwaheed Idiagbon, for adopting his father’s name. The aspirant said he adopted the name because he believed that Idiagbon’s goodwill would contribute to making his political ambition a reality in the 2019 elections. .
Adekunle said, “I thank you for saying we are coming into office on the goodwill of our father. A good name is better than riches. Good pedigree will be a leverage to get to where you want to get to. My motivation is that I have seen what the dormant development is within my constituency. There is the need for an aggressive change and development.”

Adekunle said Abdulwaheed was neither Idiagbon’s child nor relative. He added that the aspirant was free to pursue his ambition without linking the late general.
Adekunle said he had petitioned the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fofowora Bolaji; the Independent National Electoral Commission and the APC about the development.
He said, “The said Abdulwaheed, who calls himself Jimmy, even bragged that the legacy of late Major-General Babatunde Idiagbon would help him win in the 2019 general elections among other false and unguarded utterances.

“It is pertinent to assert that Abdulwaheed/Jimmy’s claim as the son of the late Idiagbon is false. Abdulwaheed is not, has never been and will never be the son of Idiagbon let alone a member of the family. All members of our family are righteously aggrieved and embarrassed by this claim and have commenced immediate steps within the ambit of the law to bring this Abdulwaheed/Jimmy to book.”

But the Director-General, AbdulWaheed Olushola Idiagbon Campaign Organisation, Shehu Bashir, in a statement, said the aspirant never claimed to be the biological son of Idiagbon. He said, “There was no such time Mr. Shola Idiagbon ever claimed to be Gen. Tunde Idiagbon’s biological son.
