The 2018 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award held over the weekend at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island. Organised by Multichoice and Africa Magic, the annual event recognises and honours film and television talents across the African continent after winners emerge through votes by members of the public.

With more than 120 nominations for 27 categories, filmmakers and actors from different African countries including Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Ghana, and Nigeria attended the event. While the event was hosted by radio personality, IK Osakioduwa and South Africa’s media personality Minnie Dlamini there were live performances lighting up the stage by song writer and producer, Cobhams Asuquo, rapper and song writer, Falz and highlife singer, Adekunle Gold. There was also a stellar performance by the SEKI traditional dance troupe. The dance drama group are heavily influenced by traces of American tap dance which originate from five different masquerade groups of the lower Niger Delta area of Nigeria.
