Last week, it was discovered that the youngster who played ‘Strika’, the mute kid in the movie, ‘Beast of No Nation’, Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye, has now taken to begging on the streets of Accra for survival. In an interview with Serwaa Amihere of GhOneTv, he revealed that all the kids who shot the movie have been well taken care of except him, in terms of payment.
“I was told i was paid 30,000 but i don’t know if it was in cedis or dollars. I was a child then, so the producer by name Zoey, opened the account for me. I have stopped schooling because it’s difficult for me hence I want to learn a trade, so I left Cape-coast to Accra. My parents are dead so I stay with my grand mum who takes care of me,” Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye said.

However, Talent Management Company, MK Content has countered the claim of Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye, saying that his money is safe in a trust fund. The company released a statement providing details on the welfare facilities and financial support given to him following the movie. The company says he ran away from school and his guardian’s home prior to the interview. The company said that together with another child actor from the movie, Justice whom he lives with, they are both on full scholarship paid for by the producers of the movie with contribution from Netflix. The company says his $30,000 is in a Trust Fund in his name at Barclay’s Bank and now that he’s 18, he’ll need a valid ID card to access it. The company added that he’s now back in their custody.
