Two people have been confirmed dead in the explosion which rocked a popular gas station in the Magodo area of Lagos State. The dead bodies were burnt beyond recognition. Eight others were also severely injured in the explosion and have been evacuated to the hospital.

The explosion which hit the Second Coming Gas station along Magodo road, close to Otedola Estate was reportedly caused by a leakage in one of the pipes. A brief statement by the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Bisi Kazeem, said the fire has spread to other properties in the area. The gas station is now under lock and has been taken over by the Lagos State Government.

Investigations are expected to begin immediately.
