Famed fashion designer, Azzedine Alaia is dead. The Tunisian born couturier was said to have died of heart attack on Saturday 18th November in Paris at the age of 82. Nicknamed The King of Cling, Azzedine Alaia became popular for his expertly cut, form-fitting couture designs, and rose to prominence in the ’80s. Known as a sculptor of the female form, his designs have been worn by women from Michelle Obama to Lady Gaga to Naomi Campbell. Alaïa was equally famous for his rejection of the fashion system and his belief that it had corrupted the creative power of what could be an art form. He rarely cowed to the official fashion show calendar, preferring to reveal his work when he deemed it ready, as opposed to when retailers or the press demanded it.
